“Corrosion is the gradual destruction of materials, (usually metals), by chemical reaction with its environment.” - Wikipedia

At Real Life, when we gather together to worship God on Thursday nights, we typically speak about who God is and all that He has done for us in Christ. This is a good thing; it is as it should be.

TAKING AN HONEST LOOK

However, there are times when it is appropriate to shift the focus to ourselves. As we live our lives trying our best to trust Jesus and follow Him, sometimes we are ignorant or apathetic about some issues that will destroy us. “Destroy us?”, you say, “that sounds extreme”. Yes, it sounds extreme, but unless there are times when we look in the mirror with clarity and honesty, we will fail to recognize issues that God wants to change in us.

SEEKING A LASTING CHANGE

Like the rust that little by little overcomes a ship now at the bottom of the sea, corrosion is what happens when strength and beauty slowly but surely are destroyed, because nothing is done to address the deterioration. Over the next three weeks, we’ll be taking the time to look in the mirror as a movement, to invite God to show us what He wants to change, and to receive his blessing that we might be a blessing to others.

Join us. It may not always be fun. Honest assessment is often challenging. But we believe God will meet us, as He provides what we need most to change.
