• Learning Communities (LC's) are spaces to connect with others in our broader Cru community over a book or topic during the summer. They will create spaces to process and dialogue as well as learn and grow. We’d love for you to consider joining us! Take a look at the four LC's and then please fill out the Google Form at the bottom of the page and purchase a book/s by Friday June 12th, then the leader of the Learning Community will reach out to you with more information on when you'll begin to meet.

Seated with Christ by Heather Holleman

An LC led by Amber Gruenhagen

Many of us struggle with comparison, self-absorption, and despair, which often leads us to an unending pursuit of perfection. In this book, Heather Holleman reorients us to the truth that as God's beloved, we are seated with Him and given a place at the table (Ephesians 2:6). Using her creativity as an English professor, Holleman gives applicable and concrete ways to remember this and live this out in our daily lives. In this LC, we'll discuss these topics and encourage one another towards believing these truths about ourselves.

Generous Justice by Timothy Keller and The Slave Across the Street by Theresa L. Flores

An LC led by Quin Strouse and Sarah Grace Smith

It can be hard to understand how the Gospel and justice relate, interact, and work themselves out in everyday life. This LC will be two books that highlight the areas of justice, reconciliation, biblical worldview, and more. The back of Generous Justice says, "The author Tim Keller will help us explore a life of justice empowered by an experience of grace: a generous, gracious justice. This book offers readers a new understanding of modern justice and human rights that will resonate with both the faithful and the skeptical."

Coupled with this book will be a memoir called "The Slave Across the Street" where the author shares her story of being trafficked at the age of 15 all while living at home with unsuspecting parents in an upper middle class suburb of Detroit; and being rescued and detailing her spiritual journey of healing.

Surprised by Hope by N.T. Wright

An LC led by Sam Hodge

Heaven! Resurrection! New Earth! The Kingdom of God! Come explore the afterlife with this book by one of the world’s leading new testament scholars. We will take a look at why a robust understanding of what happens at the end of a Christian’s life directly impacts how we live in the present.

    A Creative Minority - Discussion & Application

An LC led by Brad Cummings

How should the Church faithfully witness in a world of partisan politics? How should citizens of Heaven engage with politics on Earth? Join as we engage with John Mark Comer in a teaching series entitled "Life in Exile: On Becoming A Creative Minority." We'll reference other resources also as we discuss faith, politics, and following Jesus into the public sphere.
